Winter Soltice 2008

Happy Winter Solstice!  It’s been snowing in Seattle for several days and we have about a foot of snow in our neighborhood.   The weather has me in shock,  3 snow days off from school and now we’re on break ’til 1/5/09

Solstice 2008I’ve been reading “How Fiction Works” by James Wood and “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson.  I’m enjoying them both.

I am loving “How Fiction Works” both as a reader and as a writer.  It is the first critique of fiction that I have read in quite a while, and is very clear and concise, no bull-shit.  And Wood loves to read!  He discusses everything from the “Bible” to Updike, Pynchon and Bolano.   I  will eventually get a used copy if I can find one.

We’re going to walk to the local market to stock up on supplies.  There have been people out sledding and skiing, dogs running crazy in the snow and everyone is talking to each other, lovely!
