Monologue of a Dog by Wislawa Szymborska

134142 Monologue of a Dog by Polish Nobel laureate Szymborska is the first work of her poetry I have read.  The opening poem, voiced by a dog “Ensnared in History” was enough to convince me I would love her work.  It is accessible, it is as if she were sitting down in your kitchen and having a conversation or telling you a story of something that had happened to her last week.  She lets you know just what she is thinking and yet there is mystery in her words.

Her vision is wide ranging, in some pieces cosmic.  From puddles, to clouds , to souls.  I will be reading more of  this.
