NaPoWriMo #22

napowrimo2009_11

Prompts from ReadWritePoem.

In a land where nothing is but only seems

the king has risen from sleep

and fastened the moon up with a safety pin.

In some other forest on some other path

We are young and we are walking.

We still go about our lives.

In another country a horse stands under a tree

puts his nose into a bucket and drinks.

Thanks to words and phrases from W.S. Merwin, Anne Sexton, Kathleen Raine, John Haines and Mary Oliver.

  1. Gavin, I love your poetry! You are so talented. My favorite phrase is “nothing is but only seems”.

  2. I love how you weave these lines together. The ending is wonderful.
