Sunday Salon: Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain

It is raining in the Pacific Northwest. It’s been raining for days.  We will have floods. I hope everyone stays safe and somewhat dry.

This will be a quick post as there is lots to do around the house and later today Mr. G and I hope to see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows Part 1.

It has been another busy week at school and out in the world.  Wreath making and a book fair and Saturday afternoon spent making candy with a friend and her twin boys.  Lots of chocolate and lots of fun.

I am working on my favorite books of the year list and a very loose reading plan for 2011.  Just a few challenges, some read-alongs and special reading events, starting with The TBR Dare and Orange January/July I want to write more poetry in 2011.

I am currently reading C by Tom McCarthy and The Magician’s Book by Laura Miller and enjoying both of them.

What are you up to today?  What are you planning on reading?

  1. Oh Gavin we need read here terribly. It’s suppose to pour today but the sun is out so I am skeptical. I can’t believe it’s the end of the year. I am looking forward to everyone’s lists for sure. :) Get plenty of things done today.

    Peace.

  2. Hope the rain lets up soon! And have a great reading week..!

Here is my Sunday Salon post!

    • The rain finally stopped but now it has started again. We had flooding on some rivers and water in our basement! All cleaned up now. Have a great week.

  3. Sounds like a fun day, in spite of the rain! It’s raining here too, which is putting a crimp in my plans to walk down to Target and buy tupperware (unexciting but necessary). I just want to stay in bed and write blog posts and drink my coffee. :(

    • Rain does that, makes me want to curl up in bed with tea and a good book! I hope you managed to get your tupperware. Holiday treats?

  4. We’ve had rain this week, too, down here in California. But no threat of flooding as far as I know.

Welcome aboard the TBR Dare. Thanks for joining and for helping spread the word. I think it will be fun to see how long everyone lasts. I’m going to try to go the distance, but I’ll be pleased to make it to February.

  5. I think you’ll like Deathly Hallows. We loved it. We got rain here today too, and some artic stuff moving in. Us Floridians are not used to 20 and 30 degree weather.

I’m taking The Dare as well. It will be a relief, I think, to just read what I have when I want. I mean, I could do the audiobook one, and the library one, but they are no-brainers. Challenges should be a challenge!

    • We never made it to the movie ’cause we ended up with water in the basement! All cleaned up now, maybe we’ll get to Harry Potter next weekend. I am excited about the Dare!

  6. Hope you enjoy(ed) the movie. I’ll look forward to seeing your poetry if you share it. :)

    • Thanks for your comment! We never made it to the movie ’cause we had water in the basement from all the rain! It is all cleaned up now, maybe we’ll get to Harry Potter next weekend.

  7. I’ve seen this Orange January mentioned in a lot of blogs as I’ve been hopping this evening – I’m going to have to go check it out!

    • I’ve been meaning to join Orange January/July for a year now and I have several books I can read for the TBR Dare! I hope you join in.

  8. Ti

I didn’t get any reading done today. I have a massive headache. I sure hope I am not getting what The Boy has.

Oh, and I hear the rain is coming my way so you might get a break from it.

    • I hope your head is better. All the adults at school are fighting off several kinds of nasties. I forgot to mention the The Boy looked sweet all dressed up, even if his shirt was not tucked in!

  9. I’m liking the TBR Dare Challenge. I’m sure all book bloggers probably have enough books to get through at least 6 months of reading without a problem. I think I’m going to have to sign up for that one
